On Location: Topsail Island, NC

Note to self: Space out your beach trips in 2011, there buddy.

Late September is my favorite time at the beach.  You roll the dice though.  It's hurricane season.  While we didn't get any major storms, we did get to experience Tropical Depression 16 which went by the name of Nicole for a few hours there.

There's no one photo that captures all the wind and rain we experienced.  Wilmington, which was just to our south got over 22 inches of rain.  We "only" got 9.
But there's a limit to how much tv everyone could watch and by Thursday we were climbing the walls.  Literally.

The weather finally broke on Thursday in the late afternoon.  The rainbow was a nice touch.  We ended up having very nice weather on Friday and Saturday.

I missed my Egg. When we got home on Saturday afternoon, we had to hit the Fresh Market for some kabobs.  It was low maintenance, but it was good to reconnect with the fire.
Up next: my take on Eggtoberfest 2010!

  1. It was great to finally meet you in person, Gray. I enjoyed the event but have already decided that next year we are cooking! I want to experience that fun too.

  2. Chris! It was great to meet you and Alexis too. You're brave to want to cook next year. I would be nervous that folks would be indifferent at best and critical at worst. The guys from the Catawba Grill and Brew Club from Lenoir NC have a good crew that I think would make it fun. Anyway, glad to meet you and glad you made it to your first Eggfest!

  3. There nothing better than a family vacation at the ocean. Topsail Island looks beautiful. I took a brief one in my head while enjoying your pics, Surf City was our beach of choice when I was growing up.

    1. Thanks for your comment! I agree. Topsail Island is where I grew up going to the beach too (Surf City and Topsail Beach). It's fun to go back with my family now. We'll be going again later this summer!
